Thank you Nic for sharing your story with the general population. I have just completed reading Beautiful Boy and have just began to read your first book. I have read a lot about you via google search. I am the parent of a 22 year old heroin addicted daughter, in early recovery. I am full of hope after reading stories from people like yourself, your struggles and your accomplishments. I am sorry life is still a struggle sometimes for you and for my daughter but as a parent - I need to tell you that my heart is with you in hopes that you beat this thing and live a long and beautiful life. Thank you for trying to help others ! Deepest gratitude and best of life !!! Brenda R. (brobin23@aol.com)
Aloha, Nic. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. I am a teacher located in O'ahu, Hawaii. I teach at a rehab center for teenagers in recovery, and know that your book has affected so many of them as they can see there is life after drug use. Many of them stumble in their recovery journey, and become so discouraged. They think recovery is about being perfect, when, in reality, that is the furthest from the truth. Reading about your missteps in a real world setting has put many of their recovery journeys into perspective for them. On behalf of all the lives you have touched, I thank you. Also, I am about your age, and on a personal note, your words have personally affected me, as I have seen many people I love struggle in the same way you do. Many of them never made it out, and were overcome by their addictions. Sharing your personal stories have helped more people than you will ever know.
